Sharpie Wig Dyeing Tutorial.

This past week I finally got my Ciel Phantomhive wig in the mail. I was so excited as I pulled the wig out of the bag and…….it was blue. Not grey, not silver. Blue, and rather periwinkle at that.

While I was cursing my bad luck I stumbled upon this:

The Sharpie wig dyeing tutorial by Fire Lily Cosplay.

My day got a whole lot brighter.

I stopped by the store on the way home from work and bought two bottles of rubbing alcohol and some grey ‘Bic’ permanent markers. My store didn’t have colored sharpies for sale singularly. The Bic marker was much harder to get apart than a Sharpie, but I got good results with it. If your store doesn’t sell single Sharpies I recommended you try the Bic Permanent Markers out.

I put one grey Bic marker, one grey Sharpie, one dried out Silver sharpie and one half used black Sharpie into the rubbing alcohol. I let all the inkwells sit in the alcohol for about 10 minutes before fishing them out and squeezing more dye out.  I got about twice as much dye this way.

I let the wig soak in a bottle and a half of this crazy concoction for about 60 minutes (stirring occasionally), let it dry, rinsed it out and washed it with shampoo, let it dry again and then brushed it back out.

The wig color is 100% better than it was before. There was no streaking or blochyness and the color does not rub off on my skin.
Though it felt a little sticky at first, after I brushed it out the fibers were silky and soft again.

If you have a wig color malfunction definitely try out this tutorial.  It only cost me about $8 and saved me from buying another $60 wig.

You can view the tutorial here on Fire Lily’s DA page.
It’s easy to understand and has clear pictures and instructions.

If you use it, favorite it to show your appreciation!
